Small Groups

The small group ministry at Fort Worth Presbyterian Church has three purposes. These are the fellowship of the saints, bringing regular attenders and visitors into closer connection to the church, and to reach out to the needs of the body of Christ either at our church or in the city of Fort Worth.

Small groups meet every other week to fellowship, study God’s word, encourage one another, and pray. The format for these meetings is casual and friendly. Childcare is provided for the groups that meet on the first and third Sundays at the church. We strive to be sensitive to everyone’s comfort level when it comes to reading or praying out loud. Some of the small groups have discussed books of the bible while others are spending time in more contemporary books by some of the greatest Christian authors of both today and yesterday.

We try to keep most of the small groups at about ten people. This allows the small group members to invite guests as well as giving opportunities for regular attenders and visitors to get “plugged in”. In the Sunday bulletin is a visitor card that allows one to request information about the small group ministry at Fort Worth PCA.

The “outreach” aspect of the small group ministry serves the community while really drawing the small group together in a profound way. Some of the groups have helped single moms or widows in the church with odd jobs around the house or landscaping. Others have gone to serve at community organizations like Cornerstone Community or Hope Farm.

Small groups can be and should be both engaging and encouraging. Look at what God’s word says in Hebrews 10:
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
