About FWPC Mercy Ministry

Mercy ministry glorifies God. Mercy ministry at FWPC is not just another church program. It is part of who we are and what we do. We hope to let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. We do so out of love, obedience, and gratitude for God’s compassion and forgiveness. Would you care to join us?

We were created for good works. We bear God’s image and likeness by sharing his communicable attributes including love, kindness, and compassion. Christ died that we should walk in mercy. We are indwelt by his Spirit to be empowered for mercy. The word instructs us in mercy. The brethren encourage us.

Truthfully, we say that “mercy is messy.” Nevertheless, fulfilling the Great Commission is our mission and it calls for ministering to the totality of human need. Mercy ministry is one means of proclaiming the gospel that the lost may be saved and brought to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is also an important tool that can be used to disciple believers to be conformed to the image of Christ.

FWPC Life Ministries - Life Ministries is Fort Worth Presbyterian Church’s (FWPC) focal point for pro-life ministries. We are undergirded by prayer, serve exclusively in ways consistent with declaring the love of Christ and trust that He shall be glorified by our action.

Because of the following Scriptures, we see Life Ministries as necessary out-growth of mercy.

    Rescue those who are being taken away to death;
    Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. (Proverbs 24.11)

    Open your mouth for the mute,
    for the rights of all who are destitute.
    Open your mouth, judge righteously,
    defend the rights of the poor and needy. (Proverbs 31.8-9)

    Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
    maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
    Rescue the week and the needy;
    deliver them from the hand of the wicked. (Psalm 82.3-4)

Thus, Life Ministries is actively working to develop a scripturally based formal Theology of Life as the core of who we are and what we do.

Life Ministries enlists a prayer team whose sole focus is to engage the body of FWPC to impact our society with the need and responsibility to embrace a culture of life.

Life Ministries seeks not only the protection of those not yet born, the care for those in a “crisis pregnancy”, the loving encouragement of youth to purity of life, but also the merciful embrace of those who have been hurt by abortion.

We encourage you to become familiar with other like-minded agencies providing valuable services for life in our community:

FWPC fully supports the work of Pregnancy Lifeline. Their mission is to minister to the spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs of women during and after pregnancy, to provide accurate information regarding abortion, adoption, single parenting and marriage; to promote sexual purity; and provide support for post-abortive women. If you are interested in volunteering, take a look at their video Why Lifeline?

They provide free-of-charge abstinence education classes to schools, public or private, and churches. These educational programs focus on the younger generation in order to reach them before abortion becomes an issue in their lives. Through lawful and non-violent means Texans for Life attempts to pass constitutional and statutory protection for all innocent human life.

It is our earnest desire that the Lord would use us, not only as a ministry of FWPC, but also as a catalyst to stimulate the whole of the PCA to engage a thoroughly active and aggressive ministry for the Gospel of Life across our nation. We pray that our denomination may become known as a body of Christians who are fully engaged in behalf of Life.

We invite your email to Life Ministries for any questions or concerns you may have regarding life issues or to subscribe to our twice-monthly prayer notes.
