Fort Worth Presbyterian Church exists to extend the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Fort Worth and to the world. To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whomsoever will come - this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. WORSHIP We believe that the worship of God is the most important focus of our lives. At Fort Worth Presbyterian Church we enthusiastically declare that we have a passion for God in our worship. We pursue God's glory. Our desire is to magnify and exalt the name of Jesus Christ. The Lord is our Creator, and the One who continues to powerfully affect our daily lives. He is holy. He is full of mercy. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He is love. He alone is worthy of our worship. "For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary." Psalm 96:4, 6 "Delight yourself in the Lord." Psalm 37:4 DISCIPLES We want to follow Jesus Christ and to be His disciples. We confess Jesus Christ as the eternal God the Son, the only Savior of the world. We submit to Him as the Lord and living head of His Church, which He purchased with His own blood. We seek the fullness of joy that He intends to give us now, and the indescribable future pleasures that will be ours in Him throughout eternity. We know that only intimate and sweet communion with our Lord Jesus Christ can fully satisfy the deep longings of our hearts. "You have made known the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand." Psalm 16:11 THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD We believe that the Word of God (Bible) was inspired by the God of the Word. The Word of God in its entirety is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the children of God may be equipped for every good work. We believe that the Holy Spirit works in conjunction with the Word of God to make it "living" and "powerful". By knowing God's Word we better understand how to follow Jesus Christ and be His disciples. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 CHILDREN While we are a church that desires to minister to all age groups, we cherish a particular love for children. We see children as a gift from God, to be treasured and loved, and so it is a special privilege to serve them as teachers and nursery workers. Since teachers and child-care workers have the unique opportunity to impact deeply the future of our children, it is our desire to equip and encourage them for this service. It is our sincere hope that each time your child comes to church he or she will see an adult who is living a life of faith and repentance, and who loves him or her with the love of Christ. "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" Matthew 19:14 SPIRITUAL GIFTS We believe that every Christian has been given a unique set of spiritual gifts. Each believer is to use those gifts to serve the church family, so that the church family is strengthened and built up in love. We encourage everyone to use his or her spiritual gifts. We believe that a healthy church body is one in which all the members are ministering to one another. Fort Worth Presbyterian Church is not a place where you sit on the sidelines. "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 DENOMINATION Fort Worth Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). It is one of the fastest growing denominations in America. There are numerous PCA churches currently in the metroplex with more on the way. We use the Westminster Confession of Faith as our doctrinal standard. Copies are available upon request. GOSPEL We believe that the gospel should work within the church to deepen and mature us, while at the same time it should be proclaimed outwardly in the community in order that those who have not heard the good news about Jesus Christ will hear it. We believe that Christians are called to care for the poor, both spiritually and physically. OUR VISION By God's grace we desire to be: A Family for the Father |
